Nhằm cụ thể hóa độ chính xác cũng như chất lượng của màn hình máy tính đóng mác hỗ trợ HDR monitor thì tổ chức tiêu chuẩn hình ảnh điện tử VESA đã đưa ra thang đo khả năng hiển thị các nội dung HDR qua các thông số được định lượng một cách cụ thể.

1. HDR là gì?
HDR là viết tắt của High Dynamic Range (tạm dịch là dải tương phản động mở rộng). Có thể hiểu đơn giản đó là khả năng mở rộng hơn nữa các điểm dừng (stop) ở vùng tối và vùng sáng của hình ảnh, vùng tối trở nên tối hơn trong khi vùng sáng thì sáng hơn và khoảng biến thiên từ giá trị tối nhất đến sáng nhất sẽ được nới rộng ra hơn thông thường. Đồng thời, dải màu cũng mở rộng hơn, màu đen sâu hơn, màu trắng sáng hơn, các đối tượng trở nên nổi khối hơn, nhằm đạt được mục đích cuối cùng là làm hình ảnh trở nên sống động và thực tế.
2. Tiêu chí đánh giá khả năng hiển thị HDR monitor
Có 3 cấp độ của màn hình máy tính HDR theo độ sáng tối tối đa:
– Màn hình DisplayHDR 400: sẽ hướng tới các mẫu màn hình laptop với những giới hạn về nguồn điện và kích thước. Một chiếc màn hình đạt chuẩn DisplayHDR 400 sẽ phải đạt độ sáng 400 nit, cho màu sắc độ sâu 8 bit (tại 95% của gam màu BT.709), có chức năng điều chỉnh độ sáng toàn thể và phải hỗ trợ định dạng HDR10.
– Màn hình chuẩn DisplayHDR 600: Với độ sáng tối đa là 600 nit, yêu cầu phải có sắc đen và trắng chính xác 99% trong gam màu BT.709, 90% DCI-P3.
– Màn hình DisplayHDR 1000: Là chuẩn cao nhất với độ sáng ít nhất là 1000 nit và màu đen phải sâu, đen hơn. Đồng thời, tất cả đều phải đạt thêm các tiêu chuẩn nhất định về hiệu suất phản hồi của đèn nền để thỏa từng cấp độ lý tưởng cho việc chơi game hoặc các hành động nhanh khi xem phim.
Hiện tại thông số tiêu chuẩn này chỉ áp dụng giới hạn cho màn hình LCD nhưng người ta hy vọng rằng sẽ sớm có thang chấm tương tự phù hợp với màn hình OLED cùng các công nghệ màn hình khác.
Với một quy chuẩn đánh giá mang tính định lượng rõ ràng như DisplayHDR, người ta hy vọng rằng sẽ tạo một sân chơi công bằng hơn, rõ ràng và chân thật hơn trong thế giới màn hình thay vì chỉ đóng dấu hỗ trợ HDR một cách chung chung như hiện nay, Mặt khác, cách làm này sẽ khuyến khích các nhà sản xuất tập trung nhiều hơn trong việc ra mắt các sản phẩm hỗ trợ HDR thật sự trong tương lai gần.
